Go West

Postby Christopher Schooley on Mon May 25, 2009 10:22 am

Hey Gang, this is my last week at Metropolis Coffee Company in Chicago. My family and I are moving back to our home state of Colorado at the end of June. I have a couple plates spinning at the moment, but rest assured that I am coffee for life. I wanted to take a moment to thank Jeff and Tony Dreyfuss for all that they have done for me and for putting their faith in me. It has been a good run and Metropolis is in excellent hands with Caleb Mayhall (who is easily one of the best roasters around) stepping in as Chief of Coffee, and his apprentice Sean Capistrant who is going to be solid gold. Thanks also to the whole 'trop crew, especially Shana Conner who I've run with since the Broadway days and Carlos Brown. Love to the Itelly crowd, many of whom are some of my bestest pals around, and big ups to the whole Chicago coffee scene that has supported me for the last 10 years. Stay gold.

Good fortune awaits you and yours in the Rocky Mountains!

Chicago has a great many amazing coffee people, but with your departure they surely lost one of their best.

Chris Schooley.

The call of the west is sometimes too strong to ignore. The midwest calls, too, but how often do you hear about "the call of the midwest"? Not all that often. Nothing against the midwest or anything, it's really nice, but I mean the call of the west is famous.

Best wishes to you and your family in Colorado. You're one of the greats, Chris Schooley, one of the greats.

Hello Chris -

Best of luck to you, and to your family!

Colorado is an amazing state and has a wonderful coffee culture. Being an optimist, I am very excited for you and the new opportunities that are available.

All the best,

Yes, west. Congratulations. I think it's a wise choice. Challenge yourself to take mountain grandeur for granted. If you find your way to or through KC - a mere 8 hours from CO - stop on by.

Cheers, and keep the beard lookin' lovely.

Perhaps now we can actually grab that beer we always talked about now that your not in my backyard, seems it easier to get together will people out of state than in (read way into that).

Best of luck to a true coffee soul - but I am sure you don't need it!

Stay in touch! Maybe we should try and re-start the music blog!
